Improving Intra- and Inter-Professional Communication
A failure of effective communication contributes to most events that compromise patient safety. Disruptive physician behavior is becoming more frequent and less tolerated within HCOs. Improvisational theatre is a most effective way to highlight the deep-seated cultural attitudes that underlie dysfunctional communication, and provides a way to demonstrate more effective ways of relating. Together with Kathleen Bartholomew, we can provide a forum to serve as a springboard for resolving these issues and thereby improve communication, relationships, and patient safety.
